Critics reviews knocking acting and dialog makes me wonder: what movie they were watching, have they ever had or even recently talked to kids? Have they ever competed in a sport?
I have a twenty something and know that the movie reflected the typical conversation and I would guess that the bike-riders actions, lifestyle and passion for their sport are likewise darn close to typical. A believable depiction is really all I can expect of a film!!! Supercross is not 'Gone With the Wind' nor does it try to be!
Instead, it should be rated on it’s own merits as an 'Action' film and a family one at that. Supercross is PG-13 (there were some words/actions) but is still closer to Sunday School than much of TV. In its extreme sports genre, it may be the only movie to have actual (not staged) footage which could never be replicated. The m 'Supercross' more than overcomes a slow start. The movie rips into a new dimension of cycling portrayal, combining crispy-clean and spectacular event photography with rich pulsing sound.
The highlights of the film 'Supercross' have to be the motor-bike photography. The quality only gets better as the action evolves.
Everyone into advanced cinematography or cycle racing has to see 'Supercross' because the THQ Las Vegas Championship races are worth watching over and over again!!! The closing moments deep and 'coloured' mesh of film technique will be best appreciated on a Big Screen.The simple romantic drama is at least worth sitting through, and possibly enjoyed after all. Fresh young talent like Sophia Bush, Cameron Richardson, Ryan Locke, and Channing Tatum grace the screen. Likewise experienced racers David Pingree and Tyler Evans.A variety of music works, especially the opening credit sync and a ballad theme that has a good feel to it.' There’s no doubt that the plot and character development are pretty darn skimpy and I was a bit taken aback that Daryl Hanna disappeared from the movie.
I’m not particularly a fan of this sport, but I was really engaged by the movie. I have to assume that plot and character development were sacrificed to keep the action coming, and the motor cycle racing scenes are what kept me engaged. When the movie ended I was left wanting more. Most of the reviews of this movie have trashed it. What mystifies me is how something like 'Mr.
Smith' could have an average rating on this site that is twice that for Supercross, ’cause I thought Mr. Smith was one of the most worthless movies I ever sat through, even though I only paid $2 to see it. And I really liked Tomb Raider. So, I’ll put up Supercross against that star vehicle any day.
